On any reasonable modern toolchain.. you only need to
AC_SEARCH_LIBS([gethostbyname], [nsl])
to get the correct library, nsl is for solaris that needed it.

Since you are targeting linux then nothing is needed.. something's
wrong with autoconf tests,
