The main benefit would be less dependencies (libidn2 pulls at least in
libunistring) while ICU is selfcontained. It would also be a nice
addition for package repos if you could possibly reduce amout of
libraries used overall and potentially build dependencies too. From what
I can tell ICUs license also matches curls license more closely too if
that's of interest.
