People who have watched my release video presentations for recent curl
releases know that I have had WebSockets mentioned as a "potentially coming"
topic for a while.
During the summer 2021 we had a productive discussion on the curl-librayry
mailing list about how an API for "decent" websockets support for libcurl
could look like and https://github.com/curl/curl/wiki/WebSockets was created
in that process. Thanks to this, I now have a decent idea of how websockets
support in curl and libcurl could look like and how to implement it.
However...
There's a pretty significant chunk of work needed to make this happen. A rough
estimate says it is somewhere in the neighborhood of six weeks full-time work
if I would do it. I'm looking for companies who see the benefit of native
websockets support in (lib)curl who want to help make this happen.
