After some more thinking I believe going with three release candidates makes
sense:
- rc1: on the Saturday the feature freeze starts
- rc2: 9 days later on a Monday
- rc3: 9 days alter on a Wednesday, exactly a week before release
I made an image illustrating the release cycle with the release candiates
