Hello friends!
There are always tasks and things in the curl project that we have not been
able to, fix or solve. Here are a few of the current tasks we could use help
with. These are just ideas. Feel free to help out anywhere you feel like!
## Undeterministic script completion
We have a script that generates completion for zsh and fish that currently
uses the curl --help output as source. A better solution would be to get these
details directly off the source code. It would make it work in cross-compiled
builds and not risk varying due to terminal width etc.
See https://github.com/curl/curl/issues/16072
## script completion for bash
When the above script is fixed, we could also widen it to support more shells.
Like bash. There are widely used completion scripts for curl "out there", but
they do not come from us nor from our scripts.
## pkcs11 with GnuTLS backend
Using the --cert with a pkcs11 cert with curl built to use GnuTLS has reported
issues that make it not work like it does when built with other (OpenSSL)
backends.
If you know a thing about pkcs11 and perhaps GnuTLS this could use some
poking.
See https://github.com/curl/curl/issues/16249
## TLS ciphers and GnuTLS priorities
The --ciphers arguments simply are ignored with the GnuTLS backend. Stefan has
proposed thoughts and ideas on how to approach this and what could possibly be
ways forward, but this area can most certainly benefit from more eyes and
thoughts:
https://github.com/curl/curl/discussions/16364
## Oldest still open bug
Some bugs are hard to reproduce or otherwise understand or fix. Head over to
github and list the oldest still open bugs and see what YOU can offer in
those!
