Yes, this was the real problem. The server admin kept saying "SFTP",
but really meant "Secure FTP", which is actually FTPS. However came up
with those acronyms owes all of us a beer.

And are you ready for the punch line to all of this? Normal FTP,
without any SSL, also works perfectly. They don't require you to use
it.
