Sorry, but I strongly disagree. It has not at all been "well documented"
anywhere (and most certainly not on stackoverflow, as there's basically no
documentation at all there, it is a question-and-answer site). I've seen
people report problems, that's about it. But that's what people do here: they
report when they experience problems and we see problems reported every single
day.

I am not aware of any change after 7.35.0 that magically "destroyed" our IMAP
support. If you or anyone else does, I'd be intersted to know.

We even have bunch of IMAP tests that keep on just working.

Build your own version. Then you can build exactly whatever version you like.
And on Windows you drastically reduce the risk of getting a bunch of
mind-numbing problems by just building your own version with your own build
requirements set.
