curl-library

nearly all tests failing for me with curl 7.29.0 on Mac OS 10.8

From: Paul Heckbert <ph_at_cs.cmu.edu>
Date: Tue, 26 Feb 2013 15:22:46 -0500

I'm getting about 0% of tests passing after building libcurl 7.29.0 on Mac OS 10.8.

My ultimate question: how do I fix this?
Would this be due to misconfiguration of other libraries? Any suggestions on the best approach to debugging this?

About my configuration: my macbook was running OS 10.5.8 for years, and on 10.5 I had libcurl compiling and running just fine. This libcurl behavioral problem appeared after I upgraded to 10.8 and rebuilt (now a 64 bit library, not 32 bit). I've included the output of configure below in case that's helpful.

Another experiment I tried: I took my own program that uses curl-multi to do an HTTP post (that used to work perfectly), and the first call to curl_multi_perform hangs. Memory use by the process rises to 1+ gigabyte (should be 1/100 of that) and if I run it with gdb and hit ^C during the hang, the stack trace shows the following. Could the problem be that some other library outside curl has an incompatible version? If so, what's the best way to check the versions of the libraries that libcurl references?

Thanks!
