I don't think I made myself clear. Only a very very small subset of sites
require client certificates, and if they do they OF COURSE give their users
such. How else could the clients connect to those sites and use them?

You should rather assume that unless you don't know anything else, you won't
need a client cert (and alas you won't have any).
