Thanks for the answer.
I suggest then to fix the documentation for the
CURLOPT_HTTP_CONTENT_DECODING option which relates it to the obsolete
option CURLOPT_ENCODING:

Libcurl has no default content decoding but requires you to use
CURLOPT_ENCODING for that.
