I assume you meant that to be --with-winssl? That seems more like regular
configure style. (It is also done more or less automatically with the use of
autoconf macros.)

I am still interested to hear what issues or debates we have left to sort out
after Guenter's points have been addressed. I'm thinking we could try to have
a vote about the issues that we can't reach consensus on.
