Hi friends,

These are the three patches we have so far in our effort to move the internal
name resolving to use a single API with different backends, to make the code
cleaner and to make it easier to write other/new resolver backends if anyone
is inclined to. These patches were just now rebased and apply on the current
git HEAD.

Currently, they seem to work fine with c-ares and "regular" synch name
resolves, but they do not work properly with the threaded resolver (on linux
at least).

I'll appreciate some further help with this to bring this forward. I'm not at
all sure that I'll manage to do this on my own in a decent time frame.
