Those are the clues we needed. You use NSS and a too old libcurl. You should
upgrade to 7.17.1 if you really want to use NSS. All versions prior to that
didn't work properly.

I'm not sure if your NSS version is recent enough to play ball nicely, but
that's beyond me.

BTW, did that libcurl come with ubuntu or did you build your own?
