The "inconsistency" lasts at least since 7.12.3 and works till 7.15.5,
but I would agree, that we have some bloody hacking inside
and this is the time to get rid of it.

Actually, we were in need in some internal fields once, that are available
partially via API, and for others we may arrange patches to access them
via normal API and not by fast hacking.
