I did a little searching on the Mozilla site and I found their netlib
(called Necko) which according to the docs handles their async dns:
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/netlib/embedding_info.html

But note the "baggage" section. It is a C++ library, it requires XPCOM, it
must be compiled with Mozilla (as a whole), and they openly admit it has
numerous bugs...
