This is the Makefile I use:

when PROJ is each of the example files. I use the same makefile for non-ssl
version, only without the path to the ssl library. I don't understand how
does the curl tests work, I tried to look at the Makefile of these tests and
I did not find anything that can help.

So how did you link your example code? What difference did you make with
non-ssl library compared to the ssl one?

You mean the curl tests? Then you know the curl tool links properly with the
library.
