Greetings. When I try:
curl dict://dict.org/"d:Blowing Rock:gaz2k-places"
I get:
220 pan.alephnull.com dictd 1.12.0/rf on Linux 3.0.0-14-server <auth.mime> <26981690.8752.1377696221_at_pan.alephnull.com>
250 ok
501 syntax error, illegal parameters
221 bye [d/m/c = 0/0/0; 0.000r 0.000u 0.000s]
I have tried your curl command in a batch file and I've tried it at a command prompt. I've tried it
on both Windows 7 and on a Windows XP machine and come up with the same illegal parameters message.
I wonder if this is an indication that some setting in Windows is not allowing this to work. If so, any ideas
of what that might be, and how I would adjust it. It works without the quotation marks for cities like Gainesville
just fine. By why would it croak on cities with more than one word?
Thanks.
Denver

Greetings, 8-27-13 501 pm
I'm a new member of this forum. I was digging into the curl dict command and was able to
invoke curl dict://dict.org/d:Avery:gaz2k-counties -o D:\TEST_CURL\Avery.txt and get a
text file about Avery County, North Carolina in the directory and file name that I specified.
But how would I get information for a city that has more than one word.
curl dict://dict.org/d:Blowing Rock:gaz2k-places -o D:\TEST_CURL\BlowingRock.txt
The above command gives me definitions of blowing, but nothing about the city.
Thanks for your help.

This works here on Windows:
150 1 definitions retrieved
151 "Blowing Rock" gaz2k-places "U.S. Gazetteer Places (2000)"
Blowing Rock, NC -- U.S. town in North Carolina
Population (2000): 1418
