ldconfig, not idconfig. But now you've really confused me. *What* is saying
it needs/can't find libcurl.so.3?

That's not in any way interesting.

grep libcurl.so.3 /usr/share/doc/curl-7.19.7/*

If you're grepping rpms for strings then you're well on the path to madness.
