I would guess that's because you found and used OpenSSL DLLs that aren't
compatible enough with the one the curl executable was built against. I can't
recall exactly what OpenSSL it was built against, but perhaps you should still
consider getting one of the openssl packages hosted on curl.haxx.se as I
already suggested.
