Error compiling on AIX

I'm trying to compile the latest curl sources (7.19.4) on AIX 5.2, but I'm
getting the following error:

        /bin/sh ../libtool --tag=CC --mode=link cc -qlanglvl=ansi
-qthreaded -qnoansialias -qhalt=e -O2 -L/usr/local/ssl/lib -o
libcurl.la-rpath /usr/local/lib -version-info 5:1:1 -lssl -lcrypto

Stop.

Here are the configure options I used:

./configure --with-ssl=/usr/local/ssl --enable-static=yes --enable-shared=no
--disable-ipv6 --disable-ldap --disable-ldaps

I did a Google search and I do find the same error in some curl autobuild
logs, e.g,:

http://74.125.77.132/search?q=cache:VurL_8A6gsYJ:curl.haxx.se/auto/log.cgi%3Fid%3D20081210011457-24848+curl+aix+%22is+not+a+valid+libtool+object%22&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=27&gl=us&client=firefox-a

Can anyone help me get around this compilation issue?
