libtool 1.5.26 that I use to build release archives with (and which brings
this script for me) is older than so.

And what does "gnulib" have to do with this?

I'd rather wait with that until I have libtool 2.2 on my primary dev box
(which thus basically waits for that to enter Debian Unstable).
