issue with libCurl : time-out doesn't work...

Hello
I use libCurl with configure options --disable-ldap --without-ssl --without-zlib CC=cc
I set option CURLOPT_TIMEOUT with curl_easy_setopt(CURL*, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, number_Secondes).
But the time-out doesn't work (it stays stuck) .
There is anyone who has already had this issue ?
