Summary: Large download = hang, size/time errors

Initial Comment:
OS - WIN NT 4.0
libcurl v7.9.8
(I integrated the source code into a MS VC++ console
app project)

When downloading large files (~180mb), somewhere
around 40mb the progress bar starts freaking out. Most
of the time the download is not affected, but sometimes
at the end of the download it hangs. Tried turning off
progress bar: still hangs.
