instead i'm quite sure. a clean tarball works well but a patched one fails.
i'm not talking about building a debian package, i'm building from your tarball.
i don't give any particular parameter to configure so both are compiled the
same way. if the problem is not in this patch it is anyway rised by it.
i'm going to revert to clean 7.9.1...
