This is not really a cURL question, but since cURL has some certificate
facilities, it would be somehow related. ;-) Sorry.

I wonder if there is someone who can guide me to some internet sites
(documents) that elaborate on certificates used in web browsers. I would
like to know the format of certificates created by, for example,
verisign. And also the way they are threated in the web browsers to
encrypt and sign messages.
