(Line 176 to 185 in lib/ssluse.c contains the fix that I thought the
documentation at http://www.openssl.org/docs/crypto/RAND_add.html describes.)

For this reason I just installed openssl 0.9.5 on my solaris 2.6 box here
(SunOS pm1 5.6 Generic_105181-16 sun4u sparc sun4u) and I don't get any
problems. I tried https://sourceforge.net as well as https://www.openssl.org.

You aren't simply using an older curl by mistake?

My Linux-box using kernel 2.2.12 doesn't show any problems either.
