Hi Daniel, I do have an update on the issue. It turned out that this is NOT a bug in curl but the base version in FreeBSD, Heimdal 1.1.0 is broken. The very same error has been observed in serf by me recently. This should apply to curl too. One would need to check in the configure script for the Heimdal version.
