[curl:bugs] #1342 curl.1/curl-config.1 refer to old versions
From: Michael Osipov <michael-o_at_users.sf.net>

As a user, I would expect that the man page refers to the version installed in the system. Moreover, I cannot know that the man page has not changed since version X. The date should be the release as on the front page, e.g. for 7.35.0 "2014-01-29". This creates a distinct connection to the front page.
> Are you suggesting that we should use the most recent version and current date in all man pages automatically?
Given the above post -- yes.
A simple example is invoking "curl --version". It says, version 7.35.0 but if you do "curl --manual" it shows 7.27.0. This makes no sense (to me).
It happens way too often for me that I have a curl installed via package manager and then install a newer one to /usr/local.

Maybe the versions and dates should be removed and sed at build-time. --- Sent from sourceforge.net because curl-tracker@cool.haxx.se is subscribed to https://sourceforge.net/p/curl/bugs/ To unsubscribe from further messages, a project admin can change settings at https://sourceforge.net/p/curl/admin/bugs/options.
