Summary: How to differ a connection timeout from a download timeout ?

Initial Comment:
Hi,

i have a question related to the libcurl's interface, but couldn't get any answer on the site:
it is possible to set a connection timeout with option CURLOPT_CONNECTTIMEOUT, and a "general" timeout with option CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, but how can I know, when the timeout error code CURLE_OPERATION_TIMEDOUT is returned, if the connection itself took too long time ?

This could be very useful in order to diagnose more deeply a timeout problem.

Many thx in advance for any help.

Philippe.
