Initial Comment:
I am trying to down load http://www.poway.org/Index.aspx?page=14
I have code that works for http://www.eastmeetswesttack.com/Index.aspx?page=14 using cURL or fsockopen, but neither works for poway.org (or reno.gov)
CURLOPT_VERBOSE, as shown in my test.txt file, shows an indication of success, HTTP/1.1 200 OK, in all cases
From my windows XP computer I can make it work using Telnet by sending either:
GET /Index.aspx?page=14 HTTP/1.1
Host: www.poway.org
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:7.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/7.0.1
Connection: close
or
GET /Index.aspx?page=14 HTTP/1.1
Host: www.poway.org
Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
Connection: close

curl version: libcurl/7.21.6 OpenSSL/0.9.8b zlib/1.2.3 libidn/0.6.5
PHP Version 5.2.17
Linux glacier.dns8.net 2.6.18-194.32.1.el5xen #1 SMP Wed Jan 5 18:44:24 EST 2011 x86_64

My guess is that this is not a cURL problem but a system problem because, while I dont get any response with my fsocketopen example, it pretty much does the same thing.

Can you please instead use the command line tool curl with "--trace-ascii
logdump.txt" and show us what it saves in the dump? Do notice that this bug
tracker is for curl and libcurl, not the PHP binding for libcurl which is
handled by the PHP project.
