I'm fairly certain this applies almost identically to all the other VC makefiles, but I haven't attempted it.

I'm asking you to take it to the mailing list because I believe the guys
that are most involved in the windows makefiles aren't reading this bug
tracker.

The thread I'm referring to has the subject "VC Makefile
changes/improvements" and is about changes and improvements to the VC
makefiles in general terms, a description I think your suggested change
matches.

This is a pretty concise straightforward build-time performance improvement
with no impact on generated code. I don't see any relevant thread on the
list - are you saying you want me to start a new discussion thread pointed
at this patch ticket?

We're awaiting feedback in this issue. Due to this, I have set the state
of this issue to pending and it will automatically get closed later on
unless we get further info.

Please consider answering the outstanding questions or providing the
