I don't know if the bug is in the other project's code. However, curl should not segfault ;) Regard this as a FYI.

I'll attach a (purely cosmetic) patch for sendf.c. I didn't really understand the problem so I have not been able to write a better one.

Tested with curlftpfs 0.9.1 / curl 7.16.4

I'm quite sure this is because libcurl tries to write to a constant string
which is badness. This problem has been fixed in CVS already and it would
be nice if you could try that out to verify this!
