Dear Curl/libCurl folks :

    I have been very careful today to build my dependency tree from
sources and to do everything in an isolated build area. For a basic
build of curl this means :

       2 Jul 12 11:11 ../openssl-1.1.1g_sunos5.10_sparcv9.001.pkg
      10 Jul 12 12:37 ../openssl-1.1.1g_sunos5.10_sparcv9.002.pkg
       9 Jul 12 14:32 ../libiconv-1.16_sunos5.10_sparcv9.001.pkg
       8 Jul 12 15:52 ../tar-1.32_sunos5.10_sparcv9.001.pkg
       9 Jul 12 17:05 ../gettext-0.20.2_sunos5.10_sparcv9.002.pkg
       8 Jul 12 17:49 ../libunistring-0.9.10_sunos5.10_sparcv9.001.pkg
       9 Jul 12 18:16 ../libidn-1.35_sunos5.10_sparcv9.001.pkg
       9 Jul 12 18:33 ../libidn2-2.3.0_sunos5.10_sparcv9.001.pkg
       8 Jul 12 18:49 ../libssh2-1.9.0_sunos5.10_sparcv9.001.pkg
       8 Jul 12 19:49 ../make-4.3_sunos5.10_sparcv9.001.pkg

Yes I did two builds of OpenSSL because I want to ensure that I had a
debug type build with no optimizations and thus the ability to single
step into calls if needed.

All of the above went well, slowly, but well.

In the case of curl-7.71.1 I did try this configure :

alpha$ ./configure --prefix=/opt/bw --enable-shared --enable-static \
--with-libidn=/opt/bw --with-libidn2 --with-ssl=/opt/bw \
--with-ca-path=/opt/bw/ssl/certs \
--enable-tls-srp --with-libssh2 \
--build=sparc64-sun-solaris2.10 \
--host=sparc64-sun-solaris2.10 \
--target=sparc64-sun-solaris2.10

This all looks excellent to me.

The compiler and various flags were :

AR=/usr/ccs/bin/ar

AS=/usr/ccs/bin/as

AUTOCONF=/usr/local/bin/autoconf

AUTOHEADER=/usr/local/bin/autoheader

AUTOMAKE=/usr/local/bin/automake

AWK=/usr/local/bin/gawk

CC=/opt/developerstudio12.6/bin/cc

CFLAGS=-m64 -xarch=sparc -g -Xa -errfmt=error -erroff=%none
-errshort=full -xstrconst -xildoff -xmemalign=8s -xnolibmil -xcode=pic32
-xregs=no%appl -xlibmieee -mc -ftrap=%none -xbuiltin=%none -xunroll=1
-Qy -xdebugformat=dwarf

CONFIG_SHELL=/bin/bash

CPPFLAGS=-I/opt/bw/include -D_POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS
-D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_TS_ERRNO

CXX=/opt/developerstudio12.6/bin/CC

CXXFLAGS=-g -dalign -erroff=%none -errtags=yes -ftrap=%none -xcode=pic32
-m64 -xbuiltin=%none -xarch=sparc -xdepend=no -xregs=no%appl
-D_POSIX_PTHREAD_SEMANTICS -D_LARGEFILE64_SOURCE -D_TS_ERRNO

EDITOR=/usr/xpg6/bin/vi

GREP=/usr/xpg4/bin/grep

LDFLAGS=-L/opt/bw/lib

LD_OPTIONS=-R/opt/bw/lib -L/opt/bw/lib

LD_RUN_PATH=/opt/bw/lib

LIBTOOL_M4=/opt/bw/share/aclocal/libtool.m4

MAKE=/opt/bw/bin/gmake

The compile was perfectly fine however test results show a single
failure that I think I have seen once before :

OK (1349 out of 1349, remaining: 00:00, took 0.101s, duration: 08:43)
TESTDONE: 1049 tests out of 1050 reported OK: 99%
TESTFAIL: These test cases failed: 1167
TESTDONE: 1368 tests were considered during 523 seconds.
gmake[1]: *** [Makefile:796: quiet-test] Error 1
gmake[1]: Leaving directory
'/opt/bw/build/curl-7.71.1_sunos5.10_sparcv9.002/tests'
gmake: *** [Makefile:1442: test] Error 2

So there we have it. I think that one test fail is minor and I am going
to try to write some code tests with libcurl and see how things go.

Would be lovely to get back to a 100% perfect result set of course.
