Well, yes, a June 30, 2018 deadline before stuff broke, so expanding scope
of effort was not a choice I wanted to make considering difficulties I've
had with getting other stuff updated. Lessening risk was important. I
might try to build it now that I've resolved this issue as long as
something else urgent doesn't come up.

I don't need it updated for this old system at this time. An older zlib
is built and available, and I also didn't take time to figure out why it
broke the build. We do use Linux systems for other infrastructure, so
I don't necessarily want to do more than necessary for the old crufty
systems.

I'm actually building in a VM though I deploy to non-VM systems without
a build environment installed.
