Use cases of curl in embedded systems hardware

Hi, All,

As part of a project, we are trying to understand the uses of curl across various domains, in particular embedded systems and IOT devices. The curl home page at https://curl.haxx.se/ suggests that curl is used in cars, television sets, routers, audio equipment. If anyone can give particular examples of how/why curl is useful in these particular domains, it would help us understand practical use cases. Any references to blog posts, research papers are appreciated.
