For those using autotools isn't src/curl a wrapper for src/.libs/curl
which is the real curl... and the wrapper loads the appropriate
libraries? In Ubuntu 14 mine says:
# curl - temporary wrapper script for .libs/curl
# Generated by libtool (GNU libtool) 2.4.2 Debian-2.4.2-1.11
#
# The curl program cannot be directly executed until all the libtool
# libraries that it depends on are installed.
