I realised after I posted that that I was getting forcibly redirected
to https://www.google.co.uk - so there's no way of me checking
https://www.google.com from here.

https://www.google.co.uk gives me a 200 under HTTP/1.1

Google obviously have a few different versions of their web server
software, all with the same version number, which is not helpful.
