Have you read the INSTALL document that comes with the source code? That gives
instructions for installing curl in many different environments.

That doesn't sounds like any of the instructions in INSTALL. In fact, that
command isn't mentioned at all anywhere in the curl source package.

Octave? Is there a curl binding to Octave? You'll have to more carefully
explain what exactly you're trying to accomplish, because it's not clear to me
what you're really trying to do. If you're looking for a curl or libcurl
binary package, you can look at http://curl.haxx.se/dlwiz/, but if you want
curl/libcurl in support of another program, you'll have to read that program's
instructions on how to do it, because there's no way for the curl project to
know how random third parties are using curl.
