Yes, didn't I mention that glibc has adressed this issue?

You are VERY welcome to participate and improve c-ares, as is everyone else.
That project needs more active people to get involved.
I'm currently maintaining several open source libraries (including c-ares),
and beleive me, when the libs and maintanance aren't part of your daily job,
one or more of the projects will get neglected a bit too much. Spare time is
limited and there are so many things to spend it on...
