single or double quotes depend on the OS you use; Linux might take both
while Windooze wants only double ...
I assume further that you have prefixed the URL in your sample with
http:// (which was missing in your post)?
have you tried 'curl -v ...' ?
Also, with you next reply please include curl version and OS you're on ...
