Googling around I've been able to find, in no much time, some 'ldap
browsers' which seem quite full-featured. Maybe you could try to
locate one which works with your socks server/proxie, and finally
verify what libcurl is doing different or what bits are missing, All
this derived from what you would capture 'on the wire'.

This might be your best option since it seems that there's nobody
available who has actually 'played' with the combination of features
that you wish to use.
