libcurl: Is there a method to get the cerfificates on the fly/during the initial connection.

Hi,

I am using libcurl(7.19).
Before connecting to any backend server we do CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYPEER
CURLOPT_SSL_VERIFYHOST to validate an verify the known certificates.

Is there any method to get the public certificates online / on the fly
during the initial connection?. Just like the browsers do.
