I didn't see your code dealing with the timeout callback?

And by all means, if you can repeat this problem with a small program please
provide the source for a fully compilable one (against public URLs then) that
we can build and try in our ends to see what's going on.

(Please consider attaching such code, the inlined source code looks weird in
your posts.)
