I have downloaded and am using libssh2 0.18 now. SFTP still do not work but it looks like I have setup issues on the SFTP server.

Everyone using SSH-based protocols with libcurl, and *especially* those on
Windows, should get and use libssh2 0.18. There have been several flaws fixed
in that release.
