hmmm, there are various targets in the main Makefile;
I've just tried to build with MSVC6, but unfortunately my PSDK lacks of the socklen_t; after I added that to the config-win32.h I could build fine, and the standard target which you invoke with 'nmake vc' creates a statically linked curl.exe as well as a libcurl.lib which you can use with your apps....

I've not though tried what the *.dsp project files produce; just take a look into the main Makefile which has a whole bunch of targets for MSVC.
