I'm trying to get a build that doesn't link against the gssapi and krb5
libraries. Is this possible? From the configure output, it looks like
neither of these is enabled. However, the end result is that libcurl.so
relies on these libraries. Is there any way around this?

This is OpenSSL that's trying to include krb5.h, not curl. It doesn't
look
like a curl problem to me. You'll have to look at that header file and
see
why OpenSSL is erroneously trying to include that file.
