automake 1.9.6 bugfix
Date: Thu, 19 Jan 2006 11:14:24 +0100 (CET)
FYI
We got an accurate bug report #1408742 that pointed out that running
./configure in a dir that had a space somewhere in its path name caused a
warning output:
http://curl.haxx.se/bug/view.cgi?id=1408742
This turned out to be an automake bug, and even one that still remains in the
latest version. I posted a fix to the automake team:
http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/automake-patches/2006-01/msg00024.html
In the mean time I made a local version of the buggy function
(AM_MISSING_HAS_RUN), so that building configure for curl will now use a
patched version of the function. As soon as an automake version is released
without this problem I intend to revoke my work-around. Given the response to
my patch on the automake-patches list, they didn't exactly jump of joy and
excitement to correct this problem.
