This seems to be the actual problem, the other size-thing is probably because
libcurl doesn't properly return when this error is detected. It seems OpenSSL
failed to negotiate SSL with the server and returned error, but libcurl
couldn't figure out what error it is!

Personally, I tried curl 7.14.1 FTPS against both pureftpd and proftpd with no
problems just a few days ago.
