is there a config option with which i can build an entirely static
curl executable? i'm aware that the "--enable-static" and
"--enable-shared" options refer only to the curl library itself.

  having an entirely static executable would be useful in the
context of cross-compiling since it would be a good way to test if a
cross-compile works before loading all of the shared libs onto the
target system.
