I'm not sure how to reply. I think I'll do the whole rant version!
Short answer first: I have no idea.
Long answer:
libcurl is developed as an open source project, and me knowingly, no one is
being paid for writing libcurl source code on a regular basis. People write
features and fix bugs they want to write or fix. Most often, it is made on a
"scratch your own itch" basis. If you want a feature, you write the code. If
you suffer from a bug, you work on correcting it.
I've personally been doing about 15 hours of curl-stuff every week for over 7
years now.
We have a TODO document that lists things we could consider adding. We have
the KNOWN_BUGS to work on. I have a little agenda on my own planning in the
TODO-RELEASE document. And http://daniel.haxx.se/now.html mentions some of my
immediate plans.
If a feature is not present in one of those document, you can be fairly sure
that *I* am not planning to write code for the feature anytime soon.
*BUT* (there's always a but!), I'm willing to change my priorities and work on
other things given the proper motivation. Like getting paid.
The very least you could do if you want to see something happen that hasn't
happened yet in the project, is to offer to write the code, help with the
implementation, ask for guidance or ask what you can do to speed up the
process that brings your feature to life.
There's just a zillion things libcurl *could* do.
So, join in and make it happen!
